In our younger days, Mum used to forbid us to eat pig trotters. Pig trotters cooked in black vinegar is considered a delicacy but it was always out of our reach when we sat down at the dinner table. It wasn't a great favourite with me, so I didn't really care. Later Mum explained that eating pig trotters for single girls is taboo. It means living a life of spinsterhood! Well, I don't know how true this is because many of my girl friends who have consumed this dish are now happily married. I think it's a matter of personal choice, to remain single or get hitched and I don't believe that pig trotters have anything to do with it! I bet the poor creatures don't even know how lethal their little trotters can be!
