Happiness

Happiness isn't about having everything.

It's about enjoying the little things with a grateful heart.

Be happy, be contented and don't forget how truly blessed you are!

One Day at a Time

Hello everyone!  Has the new year started right for you?  If you're having misgivings or feel discontented or just plain dissatisfied with your present situation, here's something to perk you up.  Someone sent it to me and I thought I'd share it with you.

"As we step into 2026, it’s okay to admit that the world can feel heavy and unfair. Some days, it really is. But unfairness does not mean hopelessness - and pain does not mean the end of your story.

If you’re feeling tired, discouraged, or overlooked, remember this: the fact that you’re still here means something in you hasn’t given up yet. Even when you feel weak, choosing to keep going is an act of quiet strength. You don’t have to be loud, confident, or fearless to be brave. Sometimes bravery is simply getting through the day.

Life doesn’t move in straight lines. Growth often happens in the moments that feel slow, confusing, or lonely. What you’re facing right now is not a measure of your worth, and it is not permanent - even if it feels endless. Seasons change, people change, and so do circumstances.

Be gentle with yourself this year. Celebrate small wins. Rest when you need to. Ask for help when it’s heavy. And hold on to this truth: your presence matters more than you realize, and the world is better because you’re still in it.

2026 doesn’t need you to be perfect.

It just needs you to keep showing up - one step, one breath, one day at a time."

So cheer up, it's not the end of the world!

Finding True Happiness

How to find true happiness in our life

1) Embrace impermanence, understand everything changes and joy comes from accepting life’s ebb and flow

2) Let go of craving, release attachment that cause suffering and find peace in simplicity

3) Practice compassion, true happiness grows when we care for others selflessly

4) Cultivate Gratitude, appreciate what you have to nurture contentment

5) Live mindfully, be present in each moment to experience life fully

6) Seek inner peace, look within for lasting happiness, instead of external sources..

New Year Inspiration

"Now that I'm getting older, I find myself wanting so much less.

Less stress, less stuff, less rushing and less busy.

Less of everything that wears me out and weighs me down.

All I really want is more time with those I love, to visit places that inspire me, to laugh more, cry less and enjoy the little things in life."

~ Rea Pagdagdagan ~

My sentiments exactly.  Thank you, Rea, your writings are a great source of inspiration to me.  God bless.

Take Care of Yourself

Go for a walk, eat your favourite food, get a haircut, cry if you need to, read a book, take a vacation, have a drink, do what you need to do.

Take care of yourself because at the end of the day, you're all you've got!

Ice Cream Anyone?

I was having a few quiet moments enjoying a cup of tea at Haagen- Dazs yesterday morning when an elderly man walked in, bought an ice cream, went to look at the tubs of ice cream in the freezer and asked the young shop assistant: "Can you tell me what are the flavours that I have never had in my life?"

To me , it sounded like quite a difficult question but undaunted, the young man reeled off a number of flavours (too fast for me to catch). The old man said "Hmph" and walked out. I guess he was not too impressed.  I silently congratulated the shop assistant for his quick response . I wouldn't have known what to answer.

Advice from a Grandma

HOW TO BE ALWAYS HAPPY IN LIFE

1. Always remember that there is nobody on this earth that does not have problems. You are not the only one that has problems.

2. Challenges is part of life. It is only a dead man that has no challenges.

3. There is no problem that has no solution. There are solutions to the pains you are passing through.

4. The way you picture yourself in your mind can affect your happiness. Picture yourself as a valuable and beautiful person. Avoid low self esteem and inferiority complex.

5. Do not mind about what people say about you. Some people are sadists. They can just say something's just to make you feel sad.

6. Make friends with reasonable people who make you happy. Do not make friends with people who make jest of you or laugh at you over your challenges.

7. At your leisure time, keep yourself busy with your favorite hobbies like reading, learning, etc.

8. Do not allow anyone to intimidate you with money and material things. A poor man today can become rich tomorrow. Change is constant.

9. No matter what you are passing through today, do not give up. As long as there is life, there is hope. Never stop trying. Give it one more time.

10. Be very prayerful. Pray without ceasing. Prayer is a catalyst that can speed up your blessings to come to you on time.

11. Be courageous to go for what you want. Life is all about risk. If you don't take a risk, you will not get the desires of your heart.

I came across this in FB.  She sounds very much like my mum especially No. 10!!
