Something different for breakfast today - croissant with chicken ham and salad. Not really very filling for breakfast. I washed it down with milk and an additional cup of oats!

I had a hearty "English" breakfast today - sausage, egg, ham and toast with a cup of milk. I have made a rule that I shall not have any oats (my daily gruel) over the weekends to give myself a treat and also for that extra boost for the week ahead!
I don't normally eat hawker food for breakfast but today, I had a sudden craving for Wan Tan Mee and it came with light springy noodles and a generous garnishing of roast pork. Nice but very filling, so much so that I think I have to skip lunch today. But frankly speaking, I prefer my oats and bread for breakfast any time!
This time it's vegetarian Chee Cheong Fun, all neatly packed in a box. Since it's vegetarian, there is no shrimp paste to go with it but still the taste is not too bad.
From my research, Chee Cheong Fun is a steamed rice noodle dish that originated in Guangdong Province, China. The name translates to "pig intestine noodle" in Cantonese, but the dish doesn't actually contain pork offal. The rolls are named for their resemblance to pork intestine, which is a common ingredient in South Chinese cooking.
So there you have it. Interesting information to chew on when you next have a plate of CCF.
I went for an early breakfast today since I had an appointment at the bank and if I didn't start early, I wouldn't be able to find a parking space. So it was noodles ("koay teow th'ng") and my favorite Milo. It lasted me the whole morning and I didn't have any hungry rumblings in my tummy while at the bank!
Yummy cinnamon rolls for breakfast today! I had some red bean soup to go with them and it was enough to start my day. Cinnamon buns are one of my favorite pastries, I love the way they make them into soft, fluffy spirals of dough. Sometimes they look too good to eat!
Having heard about it through FB, I decided to try breakfast at this little outlet near the Botanical Gardens. I've always loved to be surrounded by nature and eating among plants and trees is just the ideal setting. I ordered their signature breakfast which comprises a croissant, scrambled eggs, baked beans, ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, hash potatoes and veg - quite a mouthful for a small eater like me! And of course I had to have my favourite hot Milo to go with it. It was a good meal and the young waiters were very friendly and helpful. I'll probably go back another day to try something different! Keep up the good work, guys!

After an invigorating walk in the Botanical Gardens, I stopped by to buy Wan Tan Mee from a nearby coffee shop. Apart from the usual trimmings of char siu and wan tan, I had an extra garnish of roasted chicken which upped the price to a startling RM17! It was the most expensive Wan Tan Mee I have ever paid for! Anyway it was good and so filling that I had to skip lunch!
