When I was a young girl, I used to hear Mum sing "Que Sera Sera". At that time, the song was very popular and recorded by many artistes, including Doris Day. Meaning "Whatever will be, will be", the song tells of a little girl who asks her mother what will happen to her in the future and whether she will be rich and pretty. And the mother answers whatever will be, will be. Here are the lyrics as I remember them:
"When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother
What will I be
Will I be pretty?
Will I be rich?
Here's what she said to me:
Que sera sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera sera
What will be, will be.
'
It was a sweet song with plenty of wisdom in it. Guess that was why Mum liked it so much.
