The recent rains have thankfully washed away the last few days of haze. I can now see bright blue skies and the clear outline of the distant hills which had been covered by haze not so long ago. Some people had in fact resorted to wearing face masks making it look like an epidemic had hit town. It has often been said that the reason why our island had escaped so many calamities in the past is because of its pious people. My mum and her peers were among those who prayed day in and day out to the deities for the safety and peace of our island home and it looks like their appeals are always heard. I certainly hope the deities will continue to lend a patient and sympathetic ear to all the prayers uttered by our good people.
