I've always considered myself a mild, harmless creature, incapable of treading on anyone's toes or inflicting pain on anyone. Yet I was spat upon, yes, spat upon a few days ago, and it certainly came as a great shock. What happened? Well, I was slow in coming out of a junction and the driver of the car behind me couldn't wait and honked me several times. When I finally got out, the driver drew up beside me, the passenger in front rolled down the window and spat at me! In my shock I didn't retaliate and just as well, otherwise the whole thing might have blown up ten times over. As I sat in my car dazed, the words of my spiritual guru echoed in my mind - if anyone should do or say something bad to you, and you do not retaliate, it will go back to him. So I hope that rude young man is now covered in his own saliva. What a crazy world we live in now! When will we ever learn to cultivate love, patience and kindness instead of anger and contempt?
