Pandora's Box

I have always found the story of Pandora's box to be very fascinating.  Taken from Greek mythology, the story (in short) tells of a young woman who opens a box full of evils which escaped and were released to the world.  When she realised this, she hastened to close the box but all its contents had already escaped with the exception of one thing which lay at the bottom - hope.  So that's why we say "There's always hope" when we face a difficult situation.  Can we blame this curious lady for all our earthly ills, I wonder.
