As I'm writing this, there's a big din outside as people ring in the new year and fire crackers explode. I don't know how many times I've jumped out of my skin whenever there's a sudden big bang or boom! I really can't understand what's the fun in playing with fire crackers. Not only can the noise break your ear drums or give you a heart attack but you or your house also risk being burnt! I only wish they would stop manufacturing these awful "toys". I know it's only once or twice a year that they come on the scene but that's enough for me!
