We used to wonder when we were young why Mum always reminded us never to cut our nails at night. When we asked why, her face would take on a strange expression and she would look furtively around and tell us to shut up. Some time later, I found out, through an aunt, that cutting one's nails at night, be it finger or toe, invites ghosts into the house! The news did scare us and we certainly didn't want to find out how true it was. To this day, I've never cut my nails at night - call me superstitious but why take the risk?
