Ah Hoe was also a pious lady. Every night at 9 sharp, she would light three jossticks, go out to the porch and kneel down to pray. One night, after praying, she turned to me and said she felt very disappointed as her prayers had not been answered. I was very young at that time and I couldn't imagine what she had been praying for. Was it for her family in China or something more personal? She never did tell me anything further but I noticed she still continued to pray every night. Poor lady. I wonder why the Gods didn't answer her prayers, I guess I'll never know.
