After Ah Hoe left us, we took on Ah Tai from my Grandpa's house. Grandpa had passed away and she was free to be employed by us. Ah Tai was cheerful and more outgoing than Ah Hoe and most importantly, she loved our dog, Stripe. Stripe was a stray dog which Pa found and brought home. He was very alert and protected us fiercely. If strangers were to come, he was out there growling at them. Once a cousin visited us and she had her bottom nearly bitten off! Unfortunately Stripe after many happy years with us was injured by a hit and run driver. Mum, Ah Tai and I brought him to the vet but it was too late. Ah Tai cried for several days after Stripe was put to sleep, so fond of him had she become. Ah Tai worked with us for a few more years before she too decided to return to her homeland. We missed her dearly just as she had missed our lovely dog.
